Honda's float has been chosen to lead the 2011 Rose Parade on New Year's Day:
Today Honda revealed its 2011 Rose Parade® float entry called "A World of Dreams," which will lead the 122nd Rose Parade and introduce this year's Parade theme, "Building Dreams, Friendships and Memories," on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at 8 a.m. PST. The 2011 Rose Parade marks Honda's 50th year of collaboration with the Tournament of Roses®.
"Honda and the Tournament of Roses have had a unique, community-oriented and long-term relationship," said Bill Flinn, chief operating officer, Tournament of Roses. "Honda always brings a great amount of creativity and innovation to their Rose Parade entry, and we are excited to have their float kick off the parade this year."
On New Year's Day, parade-watchers will witness a 35-foot fairy-tale castle come to life as a drawbridge is lowered to reveal a royal carriage that introduces the Parade theme. The castle will also include a spectacular pyrotechnics show to signal the beginning of the New Year.
This year, Honda and the Tournament of Roses will utilize Honda's advanced environmental technologies to help the parade function more efficiently and reduce its carbon footprint. For the first time, Honda's float will be propelled by a specially-configured hybrid, low-emission engine.

Honda Announces Last Model Year of the Element
Honda has announced that the 2011 model year will be the last for the Honda Element:
The 2011 Honda Element will be the final model year of production of the innovative and functional crossover utility vehicle, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. First introduced in concept form as the Honda Model X at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, the Element virtually created its own functional class and became an immediate favorite for small businesses, outdoor enthusiasts and pet owners. After a long life cycle, utility-seeking customers have more recently embraced other vehicles in the Honda lineup like the versatile and comfortable CR-V.
"The Element proved that ultimate functionality can often come from thinking inside the box," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "It made boxy vehicle designs cool, and Element owners continue to enjoy its unique styling and unmatched versatility."

Both vehicles are integral to the Honda Electric Mobility Network, the company's comprehensive approach to reducing CO2 emissions through innovative products, energy-management and energy-production technologies.

2011 Honda Accord Sedan Earns 5 Stars
The 2011 Honda Accord Sedan has earned a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score in the stringent NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program. The program is being used for the first time for 2011 model year vehicles.
The newly introduced Overall Vehicle Score is part of the federal government's more stringent New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that is first being applied to 2011 models. As a convenience to new car shoppers, the Overall Vehicle Score represents the combined results of the overall ratings from the frontal crash tests, the side crash tests2 and the rollover-resistance3 into a single, summary score between one and five stars.
Revised for 2011, the frontal crash safety test incorporates a crash dummy representative of a small-size female in the front passenger's seat and, as before, an average-size male crash dummy in the driver's seat. The side-crash safety evaluations continue to include the side-barrier test used previously where a moving barrier strikes a stationary vehicle at an angle. However, a new side-pole test has been added where a moving vehicle strikes a stationary pole barrier. Ratings are provided for both of the individual seating positions in the side-barrier crash safety test, as well as a combined rating for both positions, while the side-pole rating is based on a test of the frontal seating position only. The front seating position side barrier crash safety test result also is combined with the side-pole crash safety test result for a front seat side impact rating, with the results of all of the tests combined into an overall side-crash safety rating.

Honda Honored With Greenest Automaker Award
Honda has been honored with their fifth consecutive "Greenest Automaker" Award from the Union of Concerned Scientists:
Honda has been named America's "Greenest Automaker" for the fifth consecutive time by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). The award is earned by the company with the lowest combined score of its smog-forming and greenhouse gas emissions (primarily CO2) in its U.S. automobile fleet.
Honda has led the UCS rankings of overall vehicle environmental performance since the first UCS study in 2000, marking a decade of Honda leadership in reduced vehicle emissions. Honda earned the recognition this year with an industry-best score based on model year 2008 data, the latest available for analysis.
"As with the past four awards, we accept this fifth honor as both recognition of our success and a challenge for the future," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We continue to accelerate our efforts to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions that contribute to global climate change."

Starting on April 10th music fans can participate in nine bi-weekly "call to action" environmental challenges issued by Green Music Group artists such as the Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow and Civic Tour alumni band, Maroon 5. For each of the challenges, participants will submit a photo illustrating their completion of the specific eco-minded activity. Each entry will be judged and prizes will be awarded to challenge winners, with all entries being eligible for the Grand Prize drawing of a 2010 Honda Insight hybrid.
"We are excited to once again work with Honda on this effort to enact environmental change," said Adam Gardner, co-founder of Reverb and guitarist / vocalist of Guster. "Our goal is to reach millions of music fans and empower them to make a difference in their community, one step at a time."

Take a Look at the 2011 Honda CR-Z
Motor Trend took a look at the amazing 2011 Honda CR-Z:
The letters stand for Compact Renaissance Zero and announce Honda's goal of transforming the automotive landscape with a compact car that produces negligible emissions. As implied by renaissance, Honda has been down this road before: In name and silhouette, the CR-Z is clearly meant to trigger fond memories of the original Honda CRX. That little coupe helped foster and legitimize the Japanese, front-drive sport-compact craze. Light and snappy handling, the CRX proved a high water mark for the era, especially in canyon-carving Si trim.
Though 15.9 inches longer (9.3 inches of that between the wheels), 4.6 inches wider, and 4.1 inches taller than the original CRX, the CR-Z shares many characteristics with that car and the tadpole-shaped first-generation Insight. All are two seat (2+2 in Japan and Europe), front-drive coupes with wind-cheating Kamm-back profiles and vertical rear-deck windows. All come equipped with tiny four-cylinder engines and manual transmissions, though only the Insight and CR-Z have the hybrid raison d'etre, Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system.

JD Power & Associates Honors 3 Honda Models
JD Power and Associates has named 3 Honda models in their 3 year dependability study of 2007 models. The models are the CR-V, Fit and Ridgeline:
J.D. Power and Associates has named the 2007 Honda CR-V, Fit and Ridgeline as the "most-dependable" vehicles in their respective segments in its 2010 Vehicle Dependability Study℠ (VDS).
The study, which measures problems experienced by original owners of three-year-old vehicles (2007 model year), includes 198 different problem symptoms across all areas of the vehicle. Overall dependability is determined by the level of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The industry average for all vehicles in the 2010 VDS survey measured 155 PP100.

Motor Trend's First Drive: 2011 Honda CR-Z
Built on a slightly shorter, but wider, Insight platform, the CR-Z's wheelbase has been clipped 4.5 in compared with the Insight. It's also 1.2 in lower, and 97 lbs lighter. It seems much more low-slung when you slip into the driver's seat, because the H-point is closer to the floor. There's plenty of headroom for driver's up to 6 ft 5 in, but forget the rear seats, which would struggle to accommodate a 12 year old. Flatten the rear seats and you create 14.1 cubic feet of luggage space, enough for a couple of suitcases, or two golf bags.
Under the hood is the 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine from the Fit, and mated to a revised 6-speed manual transmission lifted out of the European-spec 1.8-liter Civic. The internal combustion engine delivers 112 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4800 rpm; the CR-Z's brushless DC electric motor -- positioned in place of the flywheel, and powered by nickel metal hydride batteries -- generates 14 horsepower at 1500 rpm and 57 pound-feet at 1000 rpm. Through a complex calculation, which we won't go into here, Honda claims the combined power output of the CR-Z's hybrid system is 122 horsepower at 6000 rpm while combined torque is 128 pound-feet at 1500 rpm.
Given the 1.5-liter's greater torque we had to redesign the IMA system and gearbox to cope," explains Tomobe. But to experience the full force of this beefy bottom end grunt, Tomobe suggests we first select 'sports mode' from the car's new dash-mounted, 3-mode drive system switches. In sports mode, throttle response mapping is changed, and the electric motor acts as a kind of mild supercharger when accelerating, Tomobe says. The other modes -- 'Normal' and 'Econ' modes -- retard throttle response to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions.

The 2011 Honda Pilot SUV Offers Comfort for 8 With Variety of Features
The 2011 Honda Pilot SUV will offer not only a comfortable ride for up to 8 people, but also a variety of features to appeal to almost anyone:
The 250-horsepower V-6 engine provides both performance and enhanced efficiency with Variable Cylinder Management (TM), a technology that can deactivate up to three of the engine's six cylinders to save fuel when cruising or lightly accelerating.
The available Variable Torque Management™ 4-Wheel-Drive (VTM-4 (R)) directs power to the wheels with the most traction in rain, snow and slippery terrain. All models are equipped with a standard towing hitch receiver and a maximum tow rating of 4,500 pounds on 4WD models and 3,500 pounds on 2WD models.
Consistent with contemporary SUV styling, the exterior conveys a bold and substantial approach that also helps to maximize interior space, yet the Pilot still maintains a garage-friendly exterior length of less than 16 feet. The interior emphasizes an expansive feel with an efficient and modern design that supplies 152.7 cu-ft. of passenger space within three rows of seats. Adjustable storage compartments in the center console can accommodate items large and small from handbags to mobile phones. The instrument panel's wide center stack intelligently groups similar controls for the audio system, climate controls and the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System and Honda DVD Entertainment System (if equipped). All models provide an auxiliary audio input jack for digital music players, and navigation-equipped models also include Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and a USB audio interface2.
