Earthquake Impact on Honda Operations

Honda has issued a press release on the impact of Honda operations relating to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan:

North American Operations


Honda has confirmed the wellbeing of all Honda associates on assignment in Japan from North America.

There is no immediate impact on Honda's operations in North America. More than 80% of Honda and Acura products sold in the U.S. are produced in North America, and the vast majority of automotive parts for Honda automobiles manufactured in North America are sourced in the region.
Honda is assessing the long-term impact on Honda auto production in North America, since some auto parts are supplied from Japan.

We currently have adequate inventory of products supplied from Japan, both in inventory and in transit from Japan.

Honda Fit, Insight, CR-Z, Civic Hybrid, Acura TSX and Acura RL are produced in Japan for the North American market. Honda produces a small percentage of CR-Vs in Japan for the U.S. as well.

Honda's operations in North America and globally will do everything they can to support the recovery of Honda's operations in Japan.

The 2012 Honda Civic Si coupe and Civic sedan made their world debuts at the North American International Auto Show and provided the first official glimpse at the styling direction of the all-new, ninth-generation 2012 model set to go on sale this spring.

With the widest array of engine choices available in its class. The diverse vehicle range includes a sedan and a coupe with conventional gasoline models, two sporty "Si" performance versions, along with one hybrid and a natural gas alternative-fuel variant.

This article features some of the reasons so many love the Honda Civic:

It's tough to believe that this spring Honda will introduce the ninth generation of the Honda Civic -- especially since the eighth generation still looks fresh, and still sells quite well.
Unlike a few other manufacturers of smaller, entry-level vehicles like the Civic, Honda has done a very competent job of offering a variety of models within one nameplate. We have the base Honda Civic DX, the slightly nicer LX and the deluxe EX. There's the Civic Hybrid and the Civic GX, which runs on natural gas. There are two-door coupes and four-door sedans.
And there's the Civic Si, which has long stood as perhaps the best example of an economy car that offers transportation, and then some. The Si model debuted as a little hatchback in 1986, not much more than a regular Civic hatchback with bigger tires and wheels and a little more horsepower -- a whopping 91 horses under the hood, which even then didn't seem like many.
